The Seaturns project has been selected by the Pôle Mer Bretagne Atlantique and the Pôle Mer Méditerranée to be part of a selection of innovative projects that will be collectively funded within the WiCLUB Économie Bleue. The fundraising is ensured by the crowdfunding platform WiSEED and it starts today!
After technical and economic studies and tank tests which validated the relevance and performance of our wave energy converter, we are preparing the sea trials of a prototype. The project has gained in maturity and is entering a new and more ambitious phase to find its place in the solutions for the future.
If you like our adventure and want to support it, now is the time to invest!

Pôle Mer Bretagne Atlantique certification label
The Seaturns project has just been certified by the Pôle Mer Bretagne Atlantique!
Over the last few years, technical and economic studies and tank tests (Nantes in 2018, Aalborg and Porto in 2020, Santander in 2021) have validated the relevance and performance of our concept.
Building on these good results, Seaturns is now entering a more ambitious development stage. The next phase of R&D consists in designing, manufacturing and testing at sea a prototype. This label is a great recognition, valuing our project!

Tank tests at IH Cantabria
24/05/2021 – 04/06/2021
Seaturns conducted two weeks of tests in the wave basin of IH Cantabria in Spain with the technical support of INNOSEA.
The access to the basin was funded by the European research programme MaRINET2 (as part of the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme).
Grant of the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region
The Nouvelle-Aquitaine region has just voted to award Seaturns a “Startup innovation – R&D” grant which will help funding the design, the manufacturing and the sea trials of a prototype. With this decision, which is part of the Néo Terra roadmap, the region reaffirms its support for the project after initial funding in 2019-2020 covering tank tests and studies.
Tank tests in Porto
09/11/2020 – 20/11/2020
Seaturns conducted two weeks of tests at the wave basin of Porto university (Portugal) with the technical support of INNOSEA, see video in the “Seaturns project” section.
The access to the basin was funded by the European Union as part of the Interreg Atlantic Area PORTOS Project.
European call PORTOS Project
As part of the European call Interreg Atlantic Area PORTOS Project, Seaturns has been selected to carry out its next tests in the wave basin of the University of Porto (Portugal).
Tank tests in Aalborg
24/02/2020 – 06/03/2020
Seaturns conducted two weeks of tests at the wave basin of Aalborg university (Denmark), see video in the “Seaturns project” section.
These tests have been supported by the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region, and the access to the basin was financed by the European research programme MaRINET2 (funded by the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme).
Trophée Innovation Océan
Seaturns was rewarded during the “Trophées de l’Innovation Océan” ceremony, an event which distinguished several projects aimed at better understanding the ocean, protecting it and using its resources sustainably.
The jury brought together representatives of renowned organisations from the sea sector : Cluster Maritime Français, Pôles Mer Bretagne Atlantique and Méditerranée, Institut océanographique Fondation Albert Ier Prince de Monaco, CEDRE, Agence de l’eau Rhône Méditerranée Corse, France Energies Marines and GDR EMR CNRS – École Centrale de Nantes.
European programme Blue Invest Readiness Assistance
As part of the European programme Blue Invest Readiness Assistance, the Seaturns project has been selected on a call for projects to benefit from support by an expert for several months.
World alliance for Efficient solutions
Seaturns becomes a member of the World alliance for Efficient solutions by Solar Impulse Foundation.
European call MaRINET2
The Seaturns project was selected during the European call for projects MaRINET2: we will soon carry out tests in the wave basin of Aalborg University in Denmark, with the technical support of INNOSEA.
Grant of the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region
The Nouvelle-Aquitaine region has just voted to award Seaturns a grant that will enable it to complete phase 1 of its R&D program. On the program: two weeks of basin tests and the continuation of numerical modeling, with the assistance of INNOSEA.

HyWEC 2 conference
Invited by Institut de Mathématiques de Bordeaux (CNRS joint research unit – University of Bordeaux – Bordeaux INP), Seaturns gave a speech on june 20, 2019 during the scientific conference HyWEC 2 – The Hydrodynamics of Wave Energy Converters (https://hywec2.sciencesconf.org/). This event brought together dozens of European researchers specialised in the modeling, mathematical analysis and numerical simulation of wave energy converters and more generally the interaction between waves and structures.
Seaturns presented the main technical and scientific challenges facing the start-up in the development of its innovative wave energy recovery system.
World Impact Summit 2019
The Bordeaux start-up Seaturns held a stand at the World Impact Summit 2019, the international summit of solutions for the planet that took place from 23 to 25 May 2019 in Bordeaux. This event brought together 2,500 professionals, 200 exhibitors and 40 speakers on the subject of major environmental issues.
Seaturns presented its innovative system for producing electricity or freshwater from wave energy. Through its activity, Seaturns wants to make a contribution to the resolution of several problems:
- Integrate renewable energy, and particularly wave energy, into the energy mix to meet the growing demand while diversifying the modes of production;
- Develop a low-carbon, non-polluting, robust and competitive energy production solution from a considerable resource available near the coast, close to densely populated areas.
On the occasion of this international event, Vincent TOURNERIE, president of the company, participated on May 24 in the show “La France bouge”, animated live by Raphaëlle DUCHEMIN on Europe 1.
